Apple recently made the huge announcement of Final Cut Pro X (version 10). There are so many reasons why you should use this for your wedding video business.
Here are 5 reasons why you should buy Final Cut Pro X for your wedding video business.
1. Final Cut Pro X won’t have audio/video sync issues with their Magnetic Timeline
For years editors would have issues when they made a change to either the audio or video. Sometimes the audio will lose sync or the video will run over top of the video “downstream”. FCPX will automatically bump the audio or video to another track so it won’t lose sync. Apple calls this the “magnetic timeline”. In a way, it’s a smart timeline that automatically adjusts as you edit so you don’t lose sync. This will greatly increase the speed that you edit your wedding videos.
2. Final Cut Pro X will let you easily import multiple video formats with ease
No longer do you have to transcode your footage before you import and edit. Final Cut Pro X will automatically import and transcode the footage as you edit! You can import footage from your HDSLRs, HD cameras, or any other types of camera or format that you can throw at it. This will also greatly increase the speed of your workflow…which will allow you to book more weddings.
3. Final Cut Pro X lets you easily sync various audio sources
Now that DSLR cameras and audio recorders are gaining in popularity, Apple has added an easy sync feature. We used to use programs like PluralEyes or DualEyes, but now FCPX will do all of that within the program…and from what I can tell, it will happen with extreme ease. This will make it extremely easy to match up multiple audio sources from cameras, house audio, audio recorders, lav mics and more with ease. You no longer have to rely on finding a loud noise to sync all your audio. Apple’s FCPX will do it for you.
4. Final Cut Pro X speeds up your audio editing
Apple makes it extremely easy to adjust your audio levels with a few mouse clicks. It looks like you can do a lot of your audio editing within Final Cut Pro X, rather than exporting it to Sound Track Pro to make those same corrections. Within the audio editing options, you can adjust levels, fade in and out, and make both simple and complex audio adjustments. Since Apple is focusing on giving more feature with less mouse clicks, you should be able to speed up your audio editing.
5. Final Cut Pro X will let you edit faster and book more jobs
Since Apple is speeding up the importing, transcoding, rendering, editing, adjusting, syncing and more, you should be able to easily edit your videos in record time. This will allow you to quickly produce your wedding videos and be able to book more clients. No longer do you have to wait for rendering since Apple has it built into the background. No longer will you have to spend time adjusting audio. Apple has made it easy to edit and adjust the audio wavelengths. Apple even built FCPX from the ground up to take full advantage of your RAM, cores, OSX and more. FCPX will work better and faster. Everything Apple has done a great job of building an application that will make it easier for wedding videographers to edit the video types they want (HD, SDHC, etc), with various audio sources and make quick adjustments to their video.
Those are just a few of the new features listed in the upcoming release of Final Cut Pro X (10). I didn’t even mention much of the new background rendering, exporting, pricepoint, ease of entry and more.
What do you think?

Have you noticed that many wedding ceremonies and receptions have really low lighting?
I had the chance to interview Julie Albaugh, who has a lot of experience in video and marketing. We talk about where video is going and how you can use social media to get book new clients. I think you’ll learn a lot as you listen to this interview.

I don’t do a lot of equipment reviews, but I was so excited about this one, that I had to create an audio review of the Zoom H4n. I’ll share with you why you may want to use this or why it might not be the right piece of equipment for you.
